Two methods for producing ethylhexyl glycerin

Ethylhexyl glycerin can be produced by etherification technology.

One method is to prepare ethylhexyl glycerin under the acid or base catalysis of alcohol and glycidyl ether, and the reaction time is long and the impurities are more.

The second method is acid anhydride and glycidyl ether. After the reaction, it is hydrolyzed with a base, but it is very easy to form a self-polymerization by-product of the glycidyl ether. The important deficiency of the existing method is that there are many side reactions, the product has odor, the purity is low, the color is deep, and it cannot be used as an additive for cosmetics and household care products.
