Paraffin wax chemical properties Share


Paraffin wax is a mixture of solid higher alkanes, and the main component has a molecular formula of CnH2n+2, where n=17-35. The main components are linear alkanes, and a small number of individual branched alkanes and long side chain monocyclic naphthenes; in the linear alkanes are mainly n-docosane (C22H46) and n-octadecane (C28H58) .
Paraffin does not react with common chemical agents, but can burn. Industrial catalytic cracking reactions can occur.

Paraffin wax has low chemical activity, is neutral, and is chemically stable. Under normal conditions, it does not react with acid to remove nitric acid and alkaline solution.
